On September 22, 2026, starting at 1:25 AM GMT, we experienced a loss of upstream connectivity in Moscow, affecting international connectivity in Moscow and China connectivity from Berlin.
The root cause was a software bug on our upstream provider's switch in Moscow that triggered a reboot loop, initiated by a configuration change on an adjacent switch. The change has been reverted and no further interruptions are expected.
We have identified that both of our upstream transit ports in Moscow are terminated on the same switch. We have contacted our provider to discuss diversifying our connections across separate switches to improve redundancy and prevent a recurrence of total upstream loss during future hardware-level failures.
